The Tobacco Prevention Taskforce has been tasked with reducing tobacco use by residents in Spartanburg County.


GOALS

Spartanburg County is

44%

Tobacco/Smoke-Free across municipalities, colleges/universities, and school districts.

21.5%

of South Carolina students currently use any tobacco product (males- 28.4%, females- 14.3%)

Among Spartanburg County Adults:

18% smoke cigarettes, 3% smoke cigars, 6.3%% smoke tobacco, and 2.4% use e-cigarettes.

Objectives

Reduce the number of youth who use any tobacco product

Increase the number of providers who implement the SC QuitLine education and referral process

Increase the percentage of tobacco/smoke-free coverage in Spartanburg County


Successes

Chesnee, Duncan, Inman, and the City of Spartanburg have enacted smoke-free ordinances

Converse College, Sherman Chiropractic College, Spartanburg Methodist College, and the University of South Carolina- Upstate are tobacco-free

SRHS Family Medicine Clinic is planning for implementation of the SC QuitLine education and referral process.
